There are 2 types of assessment you can take:
- the standard Taxi assessment
- the enhanced Taxi assessment – this includes a wheelchair exercise
The assessment will last for 50 minutes (65 minutes for the enhanced assessment). You will pass the assessment if you make 9 faults or fewer. You will fail if you make a serious or dangerous fault. The test is in 5 parts including, eyesight and licence check, vehicle check, general driving ability, reversing and independent driving. The grading system used is in line with current DVSA standards. The standard for the taxi assessments is set at a level suitable for a qualified driver wishing to carry passengers and is therefore higher than the standard test for learner drivers. As a professional driver you have a special responsibility to ensure that your passengers have a safe, comfortable and enjoyable journey.
